6-Day Fully Arranged Caminho – Walk a Hidden Path to Fátima
Experience a 100 km pilgrimage through Portugal’s heartland, walking historic trails from Coimbra-Condeixa to Fátima. No heavy backpacks, no weight—just pure pilgrimage, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality at Casa da Lima. Almost the entire route follows dirt roads, winding through the natural landscapes of central Portugal. You will be on your own in nature unlike many Portuguese pilgrims who take the busier main roads (The prepared pilgrim will calculate again and again and find out that all stages don’t add to 100, well, I walked a lot of caminhos, and you always add a few more kilometers to the stated km per day).
Itinerary
Day 1 – Pick-up in Coimbra in the morning, Start and welcome drinks at Conímbriga Café. Caminho from Condeixa (Conimbriga) to Casa da Lima – 16 km, 4 hours – easy path.
Day 2 – Casa da Lima to Ansião – 16 km, 5 hours – challenging path.
Day 3 – Ansião to Freixianda – 23.5 km – moderate path but exhausting.
Day 4 – Freixianda to Ourém – 23.5 km – scenic countryside, your body and feet feel the burden from the past days.
Day 5 – Ourém to Fátima – 16 km – final stretch uphill but awarding to the Sanctuary. day tour in Fatima and to the house of the shephard’s children.
Day 6 – After the accomplishment of the caminho, some caminho reflections, and a breakfast. You will leave rejuvenated to Coimbra.
This is the map from the Fatima route, where Casa da Lima is located (from Rabacal 3 km further down). As you can see the route makes a loop into the nice village Rabacal. Here they have the D.O.P. cheeses. If you don’t like to pass this town, and you don’t need a minimercado, restaurant, or cafe, you can just cross the road and walk straight. You will arrive half hour earlier at Casa da Lima!

When?
This is your caminho, so you decide when to walk it! Plan around your work, family, pets, and travel to Coimbra – whether by train, bus, or plane. Let us know your preferred dates, in advance (since it is quite busy during the pilgrimage to Fatima is every 13 of the summer months and the route to Santiago is popular too). We’ll check availability to arrange the perfect pilgrimage for you and your fellow pilgrims. This caminho perfectly fits from Monday to Friday, with Saturday the check-out day. If you like it with the weekend days included, a small fee of €48 per weekend day per person will be added. Pricing
This arranged 6-day Caminho including the Healthy & Happy food, daily transfers, and briefing with information from experienced pilgrims is unique. Embark on a meaningful journey through the heart of Portugal with mindful reflections and even a ‘body scan’. for only €598 per person with lots of ooh’s, aahs and wow’s! This pilgrimage could be the perfect start to your holiday, giving you an immediate deep connection to Portuguese culture and traditions. Or, it may be the beginning of a much longer caminho!

If you like to do this retreat privately (with you group of 2 or 3 friends, without other pilgrims), it is possible for an extra fee. Just talk to us. If you are by yourself, let us know too. 🍈The reservation is only finalized after a deposit of half the amount (€299). The remaining balance is to be transferred or settled 1,5 week before arrival.
🍈In case of cancellation more than 1.5 weeks in advance, this deposit will be refunded in the form of a voucher for a 3-day private stay, or we can reschedule your retreat for a different date. Talk to us when something happens before your retreat, no refund will be provided, but let’s try to find a solution.
Flights and transfers by bus, train or rented car from Lisbon or Porto are not included. Lunch and drinks are not included.
