Lisbon in December

Lisbon in December! Amazing! Not very crowded, the restaurants and bars had happy hours, to attract people. And we ate in almost empty restaurants. But the main streets with all the lights, and the Christmas markets were full! Full of people and full of food!

Which Church is the Start of the Caminho?

Where does the caminho start?
We first went to de cathedral, Se. There we saw a yellow arrow to go around the corner of the Se. We could get information as a pilgrim, but it was full of people and tourists, so there was not a lot of time we got from the lady in the church shop. I got a card because I wanted information about the caminho from the volunteers. I had to go to Nossa Senhora de Conceicao, There would be information from volunteers from Lusitana, the organisation for pilgrims in Portugal. Unfortunately they would be there for us pilgrims at 14:30. I didn’t see them.

Then we went to Igreja de Santiago, here the caminho starts! for real. But this one is not open. Only once a week, you could go in. and get their original stamp: ‘Aqui comeca o caminho’ unfortunately that was not in the weekend too.
So we decided to go to the church of Saint Anthony, the most important one in Lisbon. They even have a day of on this saints birthday.

Sun in Lisbon!

The sun is shining a lot in Lisbon, even in December but I was glad I had a hat and gloves with me. In the morning and late afternoon, it is getting cold.
The Christmas markets were nice to see, There was one in Rossio square too.
We went to Eduardo II square , which is the same as Marquis Pombal, where the Hop-on-Hop-off busses park. It was crowded, and everywhere was a huge line in Winter Wonderland, the market at Marquis Pombal. With the entertainment team, ice skating, and other fair-activities, it was really the nicest Christmas market with a little bit of sun.
