Cross borders from Portugal to the Central-Asia and China
The blog on this website normally goes about Portugal, Casa da Lima and its pilgrims stories during their journey. But let’s cross borders now. I have and will make special photo’s from a unique trip I am making now, the whole month of April. Since friends already asked me to send photo’s, I thought of this blog. because some websites and also wordpress blogs are blocked. Well I am sure nobody blocks our website Jaap-willem.nl, that would be something.
At least, if I write about the beauty of nature along with the pictures of the places I visit and not about the issues in these areas and politics. I will be polite and I guess I just show extraordinary photo’s.

Idea of the Silk Route
My father always wanted to see the Silk Route, he is reading about it for more than fifteen years, I guess. Finally he started to ask around who could accompany him. He also asked me and in the end there was nobody but me. Then I try to find some fellow travelers, and luckily I succeeded. Marloes!
Marloes, is a good friend from Eindhoven, where I lived before I moved to Portugal. We both practiced beach volleyball a few times a week and we even went for a skiing holiday in the Alpes.
We arranged a private tour and with the three of us we have a guide and a car. After the 11 days Silk Route, my father and I will explore Chongqinng, Guiyang, Hong Kong and Macau and Marloes will return after the SIlk Route. She already saw two of the four cities.
Kirgistan
My trip goes from to Schiphol Amsterdam first, and two days later we go to Istanbul and finally Bishkek in Kirgistan. From here we will visit unknown places with strange names. All will be a surprise.
Luckily our travel guide ‘Chandler’ sent us some weather information. Funny name for a Chinese you would think. Well, the Chinese invent their own English names, so we as foreigners can remember and pronounce it better. And they like to choose a nice famous name, like Chandler from Friends! Once I met a young men in China, whose name was Ocean (11).
We are going up into the cold air… Although the days are quite sunny. I need to bring my winter jacket for Taxkogan for the freezing mornings or late evenings. The mountains are cold.
