Bike, Walk, Feast, and Relax

Savor your Journey to Casa da Lima!

Four hungry bikers on their way to Fatima and three of my university friends from The Netherlands are staying at Casa da Lima. This calls for a small feast.

In the morning, I start preparing everything. It takes some time, but it’s easy to decide what to make. I have tomatoes, aubergines, and courgettes from our garden, so I decide to combine Greece and Italy in two dishes: a marvelous Moussaka and a Lasagna with courgette. Luckily Dewi is here to help me out in the kitchen, but first she is going to harvest the aubergine. Quite essential for the Moussaka!

Signature Dish?!

While I start preparing, Ilse and Ellen are watering the vegetable garden. When Ilse comes back and looks at the kitchen and my cooking she says:
“If this Moussaka is your signature dish, you’d better choose one that takes less time.”
A signature dish…? We don’t have just one dish, we have many national dishes that we make. We’ve traveled, tasted, and perfected them in our kitchen to suit our taste. I don’t think we’ll cut back on time. As Cinta would say:
“You are lucky guests!”

Moussaka Recipe

After dinner, Ilse dares to ask for my Moussaka recipe.
“Are you sure?” I said.
“It is a lot of work”, and that is an understatement.
She is the first to receive one of my recipe cards! With beautiful fresh photo’s from our organic vegetable garden and from the special dishes.

For the guests who enjoy dinner and preparing it, and anyone else who’s interested, I’ll soon have a booklet available with Casa da Lima’s special recipe cards.
