Fishermen’s Trail part of the GR Rota Vicentina<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A pilgrim that stayed at Casa da Lima, walked the Fishermen’s trail before he started the caminho from Lisbon. He said it was hard because you walk on the sand a lot.
Well…. I am going to walk that one too. Luckily the hottest week of this year was last week. Every day 35+ degrees. I will start walking when it cools down to 25. The trail is from Lagos to the north via de coast, or the other way around. It is said to be one of the most beautiful in the world. In Portugal! So, you can imagine that I need to discover this.

It is tough though because in summer it is too hot to walk that trail, but in winter there is a lot of chance that it is training humid and wet. But when is the right timing? July and August is not so good because of the heat.
Willeke and I will walk end of June, half trail. After doing the coastal caminho from Porto to Spain two years ago in the pouring rain, we have courage to do this one. It has a total of 225 km along the Atlantic coastline in the Southwest of Portugal. With every day around 20 km you need 12 days to complete the whole route. This time we will do half of it. We will go back again to finish for sure!
I will go all the way to the south by bus and start exploring the coastline in the Algarve. We take our pilgrims passports and will see if they will be full of nice stamps.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Starting and ending in Lagos<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Willeke will arrive in Faro, where she will go by train to Lagos. I will go with my favorite Flixbus from Coimbra to Lisbon Orient. There I will have a long break and will continue to Lagos.
From the little village where we finish after 5 days, there is only one bus going back to Lisbon in the late afternoon. For my 7 hour journey I need to go earlier otherwise I will not make it to the bustling village of Ribeira de Alcalamouque.
