Experience a 100 km pilgrimage through Portugal\u2019s heartland, walking historic trails from Coimbra-Condeixa to F\u00e1tima. No heavy backpacks, no weight\u2014just pure pilgrimage, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality at Casa da Lima. Almost the entire route follows dirt roads, winding through the natural landscapes of central Portugal. You will be on your own in nature unlike many Portuguese pilgrims who take the busier main roads (The prepared pilgrim will calculate again and again and find out that all stages don’t add to 100, well, I walked a lot of caminhos, and you always add a few more kilometers to the stated km per day).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many people heard about walking to Santiago or F\u00e1tima, and imagine it will be like the popular Camino de Santiago routes in Spain or from Porto. But the lesser-known route between Coimbra and F\u00e1tima is quiet, raw, and deeply beautiful, but also remote (see the photo’s I took at the bottom of this page). We live here and walked and saw there are no albergues or caf\u00e9s along the way from our place after Ansiao towards Fatima. No food, no bathrooms, no clear places to stop. Quite scary to take off. That\u2019s exactly why we created this 6-day mindful pilgrimage, to offer a safe, supported version of the real experience. You still walk the full route, but we arrange the pickups, food, and overnights so you can walk peacefully, without stress or discomfort. For those who want to experience the true spirit of pilgrimage in Mid Portugal but without getting hungry, or sleeping on church steps this path is for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Itinerary<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Day 1<\/strong> \u2013 Pick-up in Coimbra in the morning, Start and welcome drinks at Con\u00edmbriga Caf\u00e9.
Caminho from Condeixa (Conimbriga) to Casa da Lima \u2013 16 km, 4 hours \u2013 easy path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 2<\/strong> \u2013 Casa da Lima to Ansi\u00e3o \u2013 16 km, 5 hours \u2013 challenging path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 3<\/strong> \u2013 Ansi\u00e3o to Freixianda \u2013 23.5 km \u2013 moderate path but exhausting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 4<\/strong> \u2013 Freixianda to Our\u00e9m \u2013 23.5 km \u2013 scenic countryside, your body and feet feel the burden from the past days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 5<\/strong> \u2013 Our\u00e9m to F\u00e1tima \u2013 16 km \u2013 final stretch uphill but awarding to the Sanctuary. Day tour in Fatima following the footsteps of the shephard’s children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day 6<\/strong> – After the accomplishment of walking the caminho, rest, reflections, and a breakfast. You will leave rejuvenated to Coimbra.

This is the map from the Fatima route, where Casa da Lima is located (from Rabacal 3 km further down). As you can see the route makes a loop into the nice village Rabacal. Here they have the D.O.P. cheeses. If you don’t like to pass this town, and you don’t need a minimercado, restaurant, or cafe, you can just cross the road and walk straight. You will arrive half hour earlier at Casa da Lima!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
