Slow Down
We had a great first meeting day in Porto. This was really a Day 0 unlike the camino’s I did this summer. They were different, I went by bus and started to walk at Day 0 already!
Now I will focus again on slowing down. The weather has been incredibly hot last month, and temperatures reached 34 degrees last week. It must cool down now, I am sure the ‘caminho will provide’ that!
Meeting my neigbour in Porto?!
Next to my house Casa da Lima (near Rabacal) there is a Portuguese mill for tourists to rent. Paolo is the owner. Our village Riberia de Alcalamouque gets somewhat more interesting because he runs the B&B and he also has a location in our village for events. People get married there and with new year there is always a big new year’s party. He has a house in our village too, next to the caminho, but he lives in Porto also close to the caminho. Of course it is my wish to visit him in Porto.

Great Porto Hostel
What a great pilgrims hostel: Albergue de peregrinos de Porto. A big garden where you can relax and where you can harvest vegetables! There was a sign that it was fully booked. Wauw, didn’t expect that. Whoeps, I told Willeke that I will not reserve hostels because there is always space… The Dutch volunteer told us that it is busy month because of the warm weather and it is a 50+ week because now it is after the busy summer season.
Well we could rest in the garden and maybe there is a place when people don’t show up.
After 10 minutes I went back to the reception to ask more and we hear the good news: we have a place because people didn’t show up and they didn’t answer the phone. It is around 15:30 so most pilgrims already arrived.

We buy a pilgrims passport at the albergue, I forgot mine. Willeke orders breakfast too for tomorrow. But I brought yoghurt for breakfast, we will be very quick the first day, I thought.
Okay, we will slow down…
Day-to-day Caminho blogs
Read about this Porto-Vigo caminho here. That Aylinkho.wordpress.com blog is my old blog before setting up this Casa da Lima blog in Portugal.
